Monthly Accountant – My Latest Business Venture

So as many of you may know…I am something of a ‘serial entrepreneur’! Whenever I think of a good idea I just need to make it happen immediately – which leads on nicely to my latest business venture…Monthly Accountant.

Over the years of being a Chartered Tax Accountant I have found many individuals and businesses simply struggle with running their accounts and completing their tax returns. Many of these people simply didn’t have the time to do it properly or didn’t want the cost of hiring another staff member to run all the accounting side of things. This gave me an idea!

Monthly Accountant is a simple business which specialises in offering ongoing business accountancy on a monthly subscription basis…’The Netflix of Accountancy’ if you will! Within this fixed monthly cost each customer will receive ongoing business accounting/bookkeeping to keep everything in order and also have their tax returns, VAT returns and Corporation Tax returns taken care of – all for the same fixed monthly subscription fee. No hidden fees and no nasty surprises! Just everything taken care of for an affordable fixed monthly cost.

So I initially came up with 2 monthly packages for simplicity: one package for Sole-Traders which entitles them to ongoing accountancy/booking and 1 tax return each year and another package for small businesses which is the ‘all-bells-and-whistles’ version and entitles the business to ongoing accountancy/booking as well as 2 self-assessment tax returns , 1 partnership tax return, VAT returns and Corporation Tax returns.

However once I had created these two packages I couldn’t help thinking…”yes but what if someone doesn’t want this in their package but wants that instead?” and so after much back and forth in my mind I finally thought…’Build Your Own’! So I have also included a bespoke package which allows any user to select exactly what they want included within their monthly subscription, just to be sure there is an option for everyone, no matter how simple or complicated your business accounts are.

“So how does it work” I hear you ask? Well very easily…I made sure of that! Once you have chosen your specific package and signed up, you will automatically be given the login details for your new account. This account can be accessed via the App on any device whether you’re on your desktop computer or mobile phone. You then simply need to upload any receipts/invoices that come into your business into the app (you can even just upload a picture if it’s easier!) and the team will take care of the rest. They then use these receipts and invoices to maintain your ongoing accounts and use all the figures gained to complete and submit your tax returns at year end. Simple as that.
